An October wedding at Bridgeport Art Center is always magic, but Mackenzie and Kevin’s day felt especially electric, from their intimate first look to their sculpture garden ceremony to the disco-lit dance floor that closed out the night.
To make the most of their day, they chose to do all of their wedding party and family portraits before the ceremony, which set a relaxed tone right from the start. With everyone together early on, we headed to Grant Park in a classic yellow school bus for portraits in front of the iconic Buckingham Fountain. The city skyline made for timeless, energetic photos, especially with such a large wedding party. They even made a quick stop at Kelly’s Pub, their favorite college bar, for a celebratory drink.
With photos wrapped up before the ceremony, the rest of the day flowed seamlessly. The ceremony took place outdoors in the Sculpture Garden, one of those Chicago spaces that somehow feels both industrial and intimate at the same time. Surrounded by their full wedding party and closest family, Mackenzie and Kevin exchanged vows in a moment that felt heartfelt, emotional, and deeply personal.
Guests then moved inside Bridgeport Art Center to the first floor for the reception, where the energy shifted into full celebration mode. Disco balls hung from the ceiling, scattering light across the space and setting the tone for the night. It was equal parts modern art gallery and retro dance party, very Bridgeport Art Center, very Mackenzie and Kevin.
A live band kept the energy sky-high from the first song to the last. Between the band, the glow of the disco balls overhead, and the industrial backdrop of the venue, the reception felt like one continuous, joyful moment, the kind where time seems to disappear.
If you’re dreaming of a Chicago wedding that blends art, energy, and a packed dance floor, this one set the bar sky-high. ✨
