Morgan + Brian : Wedding Day at Montrose Harbor

All weddings are unique in their own way, but Morgan & Brian planned a special day that truly embodied what they envisioned for themselves.  They started out their morning with a small, intimate ceremony surrounded by just family and then made their way into the city to meet ME! 🙂  We planned to take pictures in the afternoon on their wedding day at the same spot where Brian had proposed, Montrose Harbor.  We were nervous about rain all weekend leading up…yes weekend.  Did I mention they got married on a Monday? Hey, when it comes to your wedding, you can say ‘I DO’ whatever day of the week you want! 😉  Luckily, the rain stayed away and the sun even came out for a bit.  We started along the river walk where everyone that passed immediately congratulated the newlyweds.

You can tell just how happy they were just to be around each other….just them. <3 To our surprise, these colorful lanterns happened to be hanging over the walkway, making for a perfect backdrop to their wedding pictures.Love these! <3 <3 <3 (Oh ya, it got pretty hot that day!) 😉Walking North we made our way to the Wrigley Building area so I could show them the overpass they had never seen.  It’s such a cool spot architecturally if you haven’t seen it.The best thing about my couples, especially these two, is they trust me and just do what I tell them. HA! That sounds so demanding but I promise, if you trust me to give you suggestions for what to do, you will look THIS happy too. 😉It didn’t rain the entire time we were out, but we lugged that umbrella around, so out it came for at least one picture! This is one of my favorites for sure! <3 Then into a cab and off to Montrose Harbor we went, walking through the sand and out towards the pier…the same pier where Brian proposed. <3 Standing back and letting these two just ‘BE’ was so cute to watch. <3 Then through the bird sanctuary that literally doesn’t even look like we are in the city anymore.

Also, Morgan, this picture on the right – GORGEOUS!!!And through the trees you come to an opening where BOOM, there’s the beautiful city skyline!LOVE THIS VIEW!You two are honestly the CUTEST!FOR SURE a favorite! Morgan, you look so regal here! <3 Newlywed Selfie! 😉She of course had to get one of her husband!Back to London House where they stayed the night they got engaged for a champagne toast and rooftop views.CHEERS!Congratulations Morgan & Brian! I LOVED being able to take these portraits for you before you headed off to Italy to celebrate some more.  Short and sweet and so much fun! Thank you for letting me be a part of your special day!

Q.  When did you meet?  Where?

A. We met in March of 2015 on Match. After a few email conversations we met for dinner and ended up staying out talking until 4 am. Made plans to go to the Chicago St Patty’s Day parade the following weekend and never looked back.

Q.  When did you get engaged? Where?

A. We got engaged in January 2017 at Montrose Harbor on the Fishhook Pier.

Q.  How did the proposal happen?

A. I had been traveling a lot so he had told me he wanted to plan a hang out day for us. There was a place in Chicago he wanted to go for brunch/Bloody Mary’s and we could wing it from there. After brunch he convinced me (it was freezing) to take a walk out on the pier as he knew it was one of my favorite places and we should check it out in the winter. As we got closer to the end of the pier he stopped and told me how important I was to him and then proceeded to get down on one knee. When I realized what was happening my initial reaction was to say, “No!” quickly followed by a yes 🙂

Q. What’s one thing about your spouse that made you realize you wanted to marry them?

A. We clicked right away and wanted the same things for the future, mainly to be happy and do our best to enjoy life.

Q.  What was the most important aspect for you two when planning your wedding?

A.  Celebrating with family but mainly focusing on us.

Q.  What was your favorite thing about your wedding day?

A.  That our families got to celebrate with us and witness the ceremony, but then we got to spend quality time together and really focus on us and why we were getting married.

Q. Where did you (or plan to) go for your honeymoon?

A. Italy – Rome, Amalfi Coast, and Tuscany

Q.  Can you give any advice for future couples planning a wedding?

A.  Do what will make you happy.
