Megan + Ethan : Winter wedding at Independence Grove

The last wedding of 2016 and it did NOT disappoint!

Megan & Ethan’s winter wedding at Independence Grove was full of Christmas details, holiday lights, and LOTS of love.  They met in High school in 2010 through mutual friends who were dating and have been together ever since.  I’m so excited to share this day with everyone! It was truly an honor to be a witness to their union.

Here is their wedding :

We started with the ladies at Megan’s parent’s house.

Everyone lent a hand for detail pictures. 😉Just a few days after Christmas, all of their decorations happened to still be up, only ADDING to their wedding details.

It was so much fun to photograph!Who WOULDN’T want a picture with Santa and his reindeer? As soon as I saw her dress I couldn’t wait to see it on! So much detail! It was classic and gorgeous!Megan, you are stunning!

(keep scrolling to see her outdoor portraits = <3)Flat comfortable shoes = SMART BRIDE! 😉Add in a vintage winter shawl and this bride is complete. This family was so lively and so fun!SEE WHAT I MEAN???

Holy stunning bride batman!I couldn’t get over the holiday bouquets. The detail was amazing!

(And we all know I’m a sucker for a long veil!)Her dad was so sweet – holding on to the shawl while we took Megan’s portrait – and sneaking some peeks of his gorgeous daughter.Helloooooo ladies! Before heading to the church, Megan was handed her gift from her husband to be…

a recording for her to listen to.

(And cue the tears.)

<3Meanwhile at the church…The guy’s details can be fun to photograph too!Such a nice group of guys.  This best man had a GREAT speech involving a customized song later on…keep scrolling. 😉Megan’s gift to Ethan – a daily devotional and a hand made quilt. So beautiful! The gents! Love that there was a Christmas tree decorated outside too!Check out the fun socks!Right before the ceremony, Megan and Ethan had planned a group prayer where they would BOTH be present.

In order to do this without seeing each other, Ethan was blindfolded.

I may have helped with that…(picture on the right) 😉Such a sweet moment with their entire wedding party and family surrounding them.Time for the ceremony! They were both emotional seeing each other for the first time. So beautiful. <3How gorgeous is the Christmas decor?!They had a special song during their ceremony – it was beautiful! I even got a little misty-eyed listening.MARRIED!!!Love these – so happy! This wedding party was awesome!

It was freezing (and what you don’t see is me all bundled up) – they weren’t but still smiled.

Thank you all for being so easy going! 😉It was so cold so it was easy for these two to cuddle up with each other.Just as we arrived to the reception, their getaway car was being decorated for later. 🙂December weddings mean – early sunsets mean – inside pictures.

The venue was decorated with LOTS of lights though, making pictures so much fun!How pretty are these twinkle light pictures?! I was in heaven! You two belong on the cover of a wedding magazine! We headed outside for a few with the lights on on the patio.

I LOVE long veils blowing in the wind!So colorful!

And so much CHRISTMAS! 🙂Introduced for the first time as Mr. & Mrs. with all of their family and friends!Megan’s dad had such a sweet speech filled with both Cubs and Packers hats for the bride and groom.

Gotta love inside jokes…or just photographing the reactions to them. HA!Like I said, the best man surprised them with a customized song……that had EVERYONE laughing. 🙂The first dance to ‘Hold On’ by Michael Buble <3Megan and her dad busted out some GREAT moves!Ethan and his mom shared a very sweet dance to ‘Mom’ by Garth Brooks. Then it was time for EVERYONE to join in!This group didn’t stop dancing ALL NIGHT!Congrats Megan & Ethan!!!

*A little about Megan & Ethan*

Q.  When did you get engaged? Where?

A. We got engaged October 10th, 2015 at a park by Ethan’s house.

Q.  How did the proposal happen?

A.  W We had gone downtown to see a play and celebrate our 5 year anniversary and on our way home Ethan pretended to get lost and drove to a park. At the park was a bridge lit with candles and a ring pop. Whenever Ethan and I had talked about getting married, he always said we couldn’t yet because he didn’t have a ring, and I would always reply with a ring pop would be just fine for me. So he had brought a ring pop and then proceeded to propose.

Q.What was the most important aspect for you two when planning your wedding?

A.  It was important to us that our ceremony be reflective of us and our faith. We wanted it to feel meaningful and the main focus of the day.

Q.  What was your favorite thing about your wedding day?

A.  It’s hard to pin point one specific thing, for both of us it was just surreal that it was actually happening and we were finally husband and wife. I loved being able to see our families and friends interact and celebrate together, we both were amazed at how blessed we are by them.

Q.  What were the first dance songs?

A.  Newlyweds: Hold on by Michael Buble
Father/Daughter: Cinderella by Steven Curtis Chapman
Mother/Son: Mom by Garth Brooks

Q.  If you could do it all over again, what would you change, if anything?

A. Nothing really, maybe make it snow just a little! But it was honestly perfect just the way it was.

Q. Where did you (or plan to) go for your honeymoon?

A. We went to a cabin in Plattville WI for a few days.

Q.  Can you give any advice for future couples planning a wedding?

A.  Just enjoy it, it goes fast, and don’t lose sight of preparing for marriage, not just the wedding itself.
