When I first met up with Mandy & Kate, we had planned to meet for coffee downtown in Chicago to talk about their wedding details.
(No engagement session was planned…well that they knew of.) 😉
Once I saw the spot we would meet for coffee (Asado Coffee on Jackson), I knew I had to get at least one picture of them there. After a brief Starbucks stop (because it was FREEZING and we needed a place to actually sit INSIDE), I pulled out my camera and asked if they would be willing to take ‘just a few‘. Mandy spoke up right away with ‘I knew you would ask us that.’ HAHA! They already knew me well.
As most of my clients know, 1 picture usually turns into…well…a lot more than 1. I had a blast walking around Chicago for a bit with these two talking and getting to know each other more. They were so easy going and so fun to photograph. How awesome is this spot for pictures?!?!?!?!You two made my job so much fun.SO MUCH LAUGHING.
Most people think they are so awkward or they are ‘doing something wrong‘ in front of the camera.
But when you laugh at yourself, the BEST pictures come out. I only smile looking at these. 🙂It was FREEZING out, but the Fall colors from our abnormally warm Autumn were still around and GORGEOUS.
Then, that perfect sun came out.
<3You two are adorable together. We of course had to get a few Christmas related pictures while downtown.Love this one!A few weeks later, Mandy texted me and said they decided they actually DID want to do an engagement session.
After figuring out a location (their college where they met), and picking a date, it was all set.
Then it just happened to snow and it made their actual engagement session day PERFECT.
Aurora University was all decorated for Christmas.
It was gorgeous out with all the snow!
I love that these are the first few pictures we took. They look so beautiful and comfortable in front of the camera.
I knew we were going to have a blast! The trees and snow on campus were a gorgeous backdrop for pictures!
Not to mention the AMAZING color contrast between Mandy’s hair and Kate’s jacket! <3
Walking around the ‘engagement rock’ on campus.
This was too funny, we had to do it.
Just a little dance in the snow…it gets anyone smiling and laughing.
🙂Love these! You two making each other laugh was so much fun to watch.<3 <3 <3A stroll in the snow…
🙂 🙂 🙂
There was still a little color left on the trees – perfect for this ‘holiday‘ shoot!
GORGEOUS! LOVE that they made this into their Christmas card too! 😉The snow starting to come down even harder, covering all the bigger trees.
I mean, come on! This was perfect!
Time for a…
SNOW BALL FIGHT!!!
Ha, Kate’s face is hilarious!Thank you two so much for scheduling this session with me!
I had a blast running around campus with you. May can’t come soon enough!
Congrats again lovelies!
HUGSA BIG thank you to my better half – Jeffrey – for all of your help!
I needed to make sure my equipment didn’t get soaked in the snow…he lovingly volunteered.
