Emma + Philip : A wedding celebration at Little Goat Diner

Getting to photograph a wedding day is always so surreal to me.  It’s such an important day for a couple and for them to let me be a part of it is nothing short of spectacular.

When Emma & Philip contacted me, I knew their day would be such a cool experience.

Having already been married just the two of them in New Zealand, they now wanted to share their marriage celebration with family and friends here in Chicago.

This was such a wonderful day to witness!

Emma + Philip : A Marriage Blessing

How sweet are these two?! I loved their attire and this late September afternoon could not have been more gorgeous. 🙂

As the family started to arrive at the church, I simply stood back, took some pictures, and listened.

(Loved all the accents!) 😉

Not unlike many other wedding days, we took as many family pictures as we could pre-ceremony.

They wanted to make sure the dinner/reception was time to visit with friends & family who traveled in.

These two! <3

Of course we had to get a few of just the bride & groom (I mean Wife & Husband) beforehand. 😉

One of their SNEAK PEEK’s on Facebook. 🙂  Loved the church architecture!

Walking in together. 🙂

How stunning is the inside of this church?!

You can tell how in love these two really are.

They looked at each other this way the entire day. <3

Some very lovely readings from family.

🙂 🙂 🙂

All the family & friends who came to the blessing.

Off we went on two Chicago Trolley’s to Little Goat Diner in the west loop.

Seriously, such a perfect day out in Chicago!

Little Goat in the west loop.

I loved the room set up for their dinner.  The details were gorgeous.

They had their ‘cocktail hour’ on the outdoor porch.  The view of the city and the sunset later…I couldn’t take enough pictures! 😉

What a perfect setting to mingle. 🙂

The not so little – Little Goat on the roof.

I got to steal Emma & Philip away to take some ‘wedding celebration day pictures‘. 😉

You two make one classy looking couple.  Emma, I loved your dress!

We didn’t have to go far.  This gorgeous wall was around the corner. 😉

The image on the left : One of my favorites.

The rest of the evening was spent watching the sun set, looking over the city, and mingling with friends & family.

These two!  So adorable!

The kids corner. 😉

It was almost dinner time and the sun was almost set.

Check out this amazing sky!

Just before they sat down to eat, I asked to take just a few more pictures.

Love their details!

We of course had to get pictures with the Little Goat! 😉

Not a bad place to host a wedding celebration.

Just before leaving, I looked out and saw this.

Sky perfection!

Close friends, family, great food, and a wonderful couple.

Cheers to the beautiful Emma & Philip!!!

Thank you two for letting me be a part of such a special and unique day!  It was for sure an honor and a night I’ll never forget.

You must know how truly blessed you are to have such wonderful friends & family join you for this amazing day.

I wish you all the happiness in the world.

{A little background on Emma & Philip}

We met in Sydney in 2010, at the office. Having since moved to Chicago together, we were engaged in Chicago on a beautiful winters day, having spent the morning skiing in Wisconsin.

We were married in a civil ceremony amongst the roses in the Queenstown Gardens on the South Island of New Zealand, just the two of us!

It was a gorgeous day with a spectacular backdrop of the mountains and lake.

After having been married for some time, we decided to celebrate our marriage with friends and family in our new hometown in Chicago, in September.

We were fortunate with some of the best weather of the year on the day, and were very grateful that our families could travel from so far to celebrate with us.

We had a marriage blessing at the Church of our Saviour, followed by a trolley ride to the Little Goat Diner, where we enjoyed drinks and dinner as the sun went down with a magnificent red sky.

The honeymoon has yet to be decided, but there is talk of somewhere cold, followed by somewhere warm!

Thanks for sharing! 😉
