{A little about Carla & J.R.}

 1. When did you meet? Where?

We met at a backyard party! J.R. was playing in his cover band, and I thought he was just so dreamy.

2. When did you get engaged?

We got engaged in New York on July 3, 2013.

3. How did the proposal happen?

We were on a dinner cruise in New York with J.R.’s family. It was raining all day and just as we got on the ship, the sun came out. We were standing on the ship deck, and there was a gigantic rainbow over NYC. We then went downstairs. J.R. and I danced to one of my most favorite songs, Cupid, by Sam Cooke. We ate a super yummy dinner with the family, and right after dinner, J.R. got down on one knee and proposed. Just minutes after the proposal, we were passing the Statue of Liberty, so we ran upstairs on the deck to check it out. It was all lit up and gorgeous. The proposal felt like it was straight out of a romantic movie.

4. Wedding Ceremony & Venue

Wedding Ceremony – St. Joseph Chapel at the University of St. Francis in Joliet

Reception – he Patrick Haley Mansion in Joliet

5. Honeymoon?

We went on a mini honeymoon to Galena, Illinois and are planning on taking a honeymoon cruise next summer.

6. What was your favorite thing about your wedding day?

Obviously we loved getting married! It was also the greatest feeling to celebrate with our favorite people. We are so thankful for our family and friends.

7. If you could do it all over again, what would you change, if anything?

We would like to slow down the wedding day, so we could catch some of the things that we missed. The day came and went so quickly.

8. What was your first dance song?

Sam Cooke- Nothing Can Change This Love

9. Any advice for future couples?

Love always, and don’t stress the little things!

10. 3 words to describe each other?

Carla to J.R.- loving, driven, and silly

J.R. to Carla- selfless, beautiful, truly my better half (J.R. has trouble following the rules)

Thank you for sharing you two!!!

And finally a HUGE thank you to my friend and 2nd photographer, Maria of Maria Harte Photography, for your hard work throughout the day.
