Becca + Peter : Spring Chicago wedding at Cafe Brauer

Kicking of my 2019 AND 10th wedding season with Becca & Peter was the best blessing EVER!  These two embody what you want in a couple to photograph.  They were beyond sweet, so very easy-going, up for ANYTHING, and never stopped smiling and laughing.  To describe their day as fun is a complete understatement.  I mean look at that first picture of them! That’s them! <3 They enjoyed each other and their day to the fullest and as you scroll, you’ll see exactly what I mean, even with a cold Spring and VERY windy day.  I could not stop smiling editing through this wedding and I will always smile when I think back on it.

Thank you both for such an unforgettable and beautiful day!  Enjoy some favorite highlights HERE

Q.  When did you meet? Where?   Pete likes to say that we ran into each other out one night for a mutual friend’s going away party because I bumped into his table. We really met through a popular dating application – Tinder. Our first date was a Thursday, we went out again on Saturday, then Tuesday and were inseparable since.

Q.  When did you get engaged? Where?  Pete came to a work happy hour on a 30 degree Friday in March before we had dinner plans. He then asked to take a walk on the river walk and I instantly knew what was about to happen because 1. Pete doesn’t like to take walks 2. There is nothing to do on the river when its that cold, so it could only mean one thing. He had his friends around to take pictures of the event. He had everything planned out and our parents were able to come into town and celebrate with close friends in the city. He also didn’t realize what hand the engagement goes on and he tried to put it on my right hand.

Q.  What’s one thing about your spouse that made you realize you wanted to marry them?

I can’t think of one thing in particular that made me want to marry Pete, but it was kind of a combination of things, but mainly the importance he places on family and the way he acted with his nieces and nephews made me know that he would make an amazing father.

One stands out, I got Moose ( our chocolate lab ) prior to knowing Becca. One night I went out with some friends without Becca and came after the bars closed. When I opened the front door of our apartment I was charged by the dog that I had raised protecting the one I loved. At that moment I knew she was the one.

Q.  What was the most important aspect for you two when planning your wedding?

When planning the wedding, we wanted to make sure that we stayed true to ourselves. We wanted the vibe to be romantic and relaxed; we wanted everyone on the dance floor having a good time; and we wanted the drinks to be flowing. Outside of that, my (Becca) mom did almost everything because she is more of a details person.

Q.  How did you choose your wedding venue (s)?

We wanted a space that was already beautiful and historic that didn’t need much work on the interior. With our love of animals, the zoo is a place that we have always gone to for dates to walk around. We would bring people coming in from out of town there. I’ve seen pictures of weddings there and always thought it was beautiful and the venue was everything we wanted and more.

Q.  What was your favorite thing about your wedding day?

It is hard to select one moment specifically that we loved, but there are a few. It was amazing to see Pete for the first time because I knew how nervous he was. I LOVED the Ketubah signing because it is such an intimate experience for the wedding party and our families to share in together, it was a way for Pete’s family to experience a new tradition and everyone was able to share personal moments and blessings. The ceremony was beautiful and it felt like Pete and I were the only two people in the room. The dancing was amazing. I wanted a winter wedding and Pete and I walked back to the Lincoln Hotel through the park and it started to snow which was the magic ending to the perfect wedding for us.

Q. What were the first dance songs?
Newlyweds: 4am Kaskade
Father Daughter: Isn’t she lovely
Mother Son: Simple Man

Q. Where did you (or plan to) go for your honeymoon?

Q.  Can you give any advice for future couples planning a wedding?

Make sure to stay true to who you are and don’t get wrapped up in everyone else’s opinion.

They both got ready at Hotel Lincoln, just a short walk through the park away from their venue.Becca has such an infectious smile and it didn’t go away the entire day. <3 A few floors away, Pete and the guys were getting ready…As Pete made his way outside to walk to the honeycomb for their first look, we spotted him right outside Becca’s window. <3Like I said, it was a windy day. Finally time to see each other!

Get ready for some of the sweetest reactions to a first look EVER!

(side note : I love that we took some of their engagement pictures in this same exact spot!)<3 <3 <3 SO SWEET!!!Then everyone came to join us for wedding party pictures.Look at these sweet cuties! The gents. The lovely ladies in fur. 🙂It was pretty cold for the end of March so we made our way to the J. Parker at Hotel Lincoln to warm up and have a few drinks to celebrate. If you ever visit this hotel, make sure to see their colorful grand staircase behind the lobby desk.  So many amazing paintings (including my favorite, of course, the elephants).  Such a cool spot for portraits!Soon after, it was time to head to their venue for a few more pictures before the ceremony. Before the ceremony, they had a traditional Ketubah signing.  The entire wedding party, parents, videographer, and me all squeezed in the narrow balcony area to witness the intimate event.  It was a really beautiful moment with lots of emotions.Love all the sweet blessings wished to the couple from family and friends.Moments after, it was time for the ceremony in the gorgeous Cafe Brauer’s Great Hall.I loved these cuties walking down with so much confidence!

Here comes the bride!
